82SC Cruise Control consistently engages 10mph too low.

I finally had the time to work on my cruise control and found that the only reason it was not working at all was the fuse and power supply to the fuse. I got that fixed and cruise controll now works, sort of. Every time i set a speed and lift my foot of the pedal the car slows down 10mph before the cruise control takes over and maintains that speed.
Has anybody had this on their cruise control? Is there a simple fix?

Thanks

Frank

The cruise control on my 85 has always been less than perfect. I have to accerlate to 5 MPH above the speed I really want and then set it. After 30 minutes or so it will be going 5 MPH slower. I asked several local experts and they all had the standard response "they all do that." I would love to fine a real cure for the problem. There has to be some fix besides upgrading to a 993

I know a little bit more now. I swaped the control unit with the control unit of another 83 SC and now it would only set 3mph slower, so the control unit is the source of my error.
Anybody have an idea how the control unit can be fixed? 10mph slower is just too much.

I Think The Cable Is Adjustable At The Throtte End[black Plastic Nut On Cable Right At Throttle]to Correct For Speed Calibration

I don't think that is going to work, because the setting of the speed in the box is always lower then orignially set value. Otherwise mine would not have worked better once i swapped the control unit.

Same boat. See attached thread. If anyone figures it out, I'm interested.

Cruise Control Brain

BTW, in response to Doyle, I think the 89 uses the more modern motor driven cruise instead of the vacuum unit like ours.
