Update '78 SC stalling, not starting

Fuel presssures checked out OK, including residual pressure. So, I drove it until it died again, checked for spark and voila, no spark! I had assumed that it was a fuel sytem problem. I checked the harness connection to the CDI, the other harness connection near the engine compartment fuse box, and I jiggled the green wire to the distributor. It started right up and has not stalled since. It has restarted several times after sitting hot as well. Does this make sense?

Yeah, I had the same problem with my '78SC, and it was the wire to the distributor. Everything looked fine, and seemed to operate properly, but sometimes the car would not start for hours. My wire jiggling must have temporarily "fixed" the problem, but I could never get the car to experience this problem when my mechanic was around. That is, until he was working on the engine while it was running, and it simply quit. He traced it to the distributor wire, replaced it, and I never had the problem again.

I've been trying to find a replacement to the distributer wire for my 82SC. The local guy ordered the part but it was too short. Where did you get your replacement? I have the same problem.

some cars had the green distributor wire as part of the engine loom. there was no plug to swap it out. these cars required adapting a female plug to the existing green coaxial wire,in order to use the short distributor wire, part #930 602 907 01. the female plug is the same as all the other snap on plugs on the engine.
