Up until today my AC has been blowing ice cold here in Texas. I was thinking I was not gonna have the AC woes that are often reported on this board. But when I turned it on today it was only cool(not even close to cold). After checking I have found the compressor isn't coming on when I turn the AC switch. Belt is on and compressor is turning but the clutch doesn't engage. I have checked the fusebox and relays but they look OK. I believe it to be an electrical problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I should check. TIA

Most AC systems are designed with a lot of safety built in. Example, if the Freon presure is too low then the compressor will not turn on. American cars have a thermo switch that fails quite often and also causes the compressor not to turn on. If all fuses and switches check out then check the clutch coil for proper resistance and have your pressures checked.
