Just arrived home with RSR clone
Just got back today after 1000 miles from Tampa to Louisville. I have been looking for an RS or RSR clone for quite a while and the right one just had not come along yet. After selling my 930 in Dec., I kept searching even though I purchased a Viper to quench my toy needs.
The car is a '72 T with steel flares, Gary Stratton 9" & 11" 3-piece Fuchs, Stratton built ducktail mounted on original steel deck, 3.2l 1989 motor mated to a rebuilt 915 trans, full 930 suspension and brakes, factory GT3 seats, RS door panel, carpet, Wevo shift and adjustable suspension goodies. The car probably weighs around 2300. No AC or heat. I had been lusting after some listers cars on here like the orange RSR(Gary?) in the northeast, BBII etc... I think I found found something similar except in Speed Yellow. The car is what I expected, light and quick, but definitely does not have the neck snapping thrust that my modded 930 gave. The 1000 mile journey was actually not that bad. The seats are quite comfortable and even though the straight headers to Supertrapps is loud without baffles, it didn't bother me the least. Now I just need to decide if I want Carrera or Porsche side decals and if I should get grey or black. Anyone want a 1999 silver/blue strip Viper GTS? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1204501676.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1204501689.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1204501702.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1204501715.jpg |
Nice car. Interior is very cool. If that is truly a red interior why not a red Carrera script. Very different
I knew the Viper wouldn't last.....
maybe white script?
that car is bad arse. |
Ya scored big!! Great car & congrats. Where did you find it?
Great looking. I would go w/ black porsche.
That looks very, very nice.
Going back to the recent thread ( Value of RSR replicas ) I would love to know what you paid, but I also understand that's a rude question and you probably woudn't want to reveal it.. :-) |
The car had been listed in PCA back in Dec. I just happened to stumble on it the other week and it was located in Tampa. Had a break in the midwest weather and did a fly in/drive home this weekend.
I like the Boxster red interior, but I think red script may be too bold for me. This car will be 98% street and weekend toy with a possible DE or 2 per season if time permits. Tony, the Viper is great, but the rear wheel power is sometimes annoying. The thing chirps the tires all the time unless you purposely slip the clutch. Also, there are always plenty of Vipers for sale, and the RSR/RS clones are harder to find what you are looking for in the targeted price range. |
beautiful car, I think dark grey Porsche side script with matching grey centers on the fuchs would look cool
That was in Tampa and I didn;t know about it - damn I'm slipping - nice car with nice upgrades you did good.
I personally would go the black and yellow route with that car - blacked out fuchs - Black Carrera along the doors - and a black vinyl P O R S C H E alond the rear decklid to replace the RSR Bling |
White or Orange script....CARRERA....
Cooooooooooooool 911...have fun with that baby.
nice...
wow car looks fantastic enjoy! what about black PORSCHE on the bottom not the standard Carrera script?
Noooo....Side Script.
I 2nd no side script. That is a clean machine. Nice...as is. I'd refinish the Fuchs, RSR style...very tasty.
Nice! I don't know about the side graphics, but what about grey "Carrera" followed by red "RSR". MikeZ can make them for you. Maybe one of the photoshop gurus here can put these ideas together visually for you to help you choose. You ought to bring that thing down to one of our Mid TN Fun Runs. We have them usually between Nashville and Memphis somewhere (exploring the backroads). We are also tyrying to get a Tennessee Cars and Coffee established as well, and that will probably end up being held in Nashville the first Saturday of each month.

Hey, Doug, nice 930 replacement. BTW, do you still have those Lindseys you had as spares?
Congrats!!!
