A bit of trivia. Whats not right.

There is somthing wrong in this picture, what is it. And its not the tail. I have to say that polished wheels look much better.

I'd have to say the tinted windows, the odd looking side mirror, the chrome across the sides under the doors, the weird reflection on the back of the drivers door and rear quarter panel, looks like a big dent, flared fenders, can't see a Porsche emblem on the hood but there probably is one, hope I didn't miss anything!

Is that a short hood from a 65-68?
Also no bumperettes

I see a dwarf hanging from a tree in the background.

The reflection is from a couple of boxes that were beside me ready for trash day tomarrow, no dents, the chrome under the door is factory(I believe). It is missing the emblem, waiting on new one. The side mirror was round, I changed the mirror from my 73(the round one was butt ugly and for sale @ that). What I thought was jacked up was the mirror, it looked like the base was mounted backwards. I just ran down to check and its correct. Must of had to many Coronas today.

dude thats not a dwarf, its my little brother and he was born like that so you shoudent make fun of him. the hood is 71 standard.

chrome around marker lights missing, wrong mirror, Waldo is missing and your not driving it.

If you catch this, it looks as if you have the same mirrors, where did you find the pass side?

I still can't find the dwarf/brother in the tree.

I got the mirror from an outfit that doesn't sell them any more. It was the David Honl company, who's a Porsche enthusiast and web designer. I've sent some guys to his website to see if he still sells it, but I don't think they've had any luck.

Yes, Tom, the tail end is sitting too high! By about 1.5" to my eye!

I must say that I prefer the round "gerrand" mirror that is standard (2 cents).

Have you thought about the "bullet" style mirror that you occasionaly see on older 911s. I still see them in performance and racing shops from time to time.

Really like that colour....

Besides the mentioned, what's up with the trim guard around the front bumper's edge (towards the front tire), ditto for the rear bumper and at least the wiper arms need to be chromed, right?

PS: Don't kill me if I'm not dead on. BTW, I think that the only thing really wrong with this car (besides the tail ofcourse), is the lug nuts, shouldn't they be chromed too?

The only abnormalities I can spot are the absence of front chrome bumperettes, the 1973 mirror and the fact that the painted insets and spokes have been polished out. It looks like the trim on the inside edges of the front valence and rear bumper has survived, which is unusual -- but the chrome trim around the rear turn signal lens apparently didn't. The tinting on the glass has been added, of course. The rear chrome bumperette might also be missing, but the angle might be hiding it. I'm no fan of the bumperettes, but I do prefer the painted insets on the Fuchs. But, to each his own.

Cosmetically, it looks to be in fine shape. I assume the ducktail wasn't available, even as a special order, in 1971 -- but I think it will look nice with some paint on it. If you plan on spending a lot of time north of the century mark, you might want to consider a front S-type spoiler to balance out the overall reduction of lift.

Warren's right about the back looking too high. It might be an optical illusion created by the angle of the driveway and the lens that was used to take the picture. It also might have to do with the size of the rear tires. Hard to say.

Now, someone go let the dwarf down out of that tree.

What about this -
on an early car, the small windows up front in the doors (sorry, don't know the correct word to describe them..) are supposed to be the kind that you can open - these appear to be the later type, that can't open.
Correct?

I think the operational front vent windows were sealed up in 1968 or 1969. The rear vent windows lasted longer.

It's strange, there were once six opening windows and a sunroof in most 911 coupes. Combine that with five climate control levers and two dials (for AC models) and you've got a lot of options for keeping comfortable.
