Longhood RS Prototype

Here is a picture of two longhood based prototypes. Described as 2.7RSR based prototypes with 3.0L motors. Does anyone have additional pictures of these very rare factory race cars? I'm interested in possibly duplicating the rear fenders, uprights and wing.
Thanks

I think 'Porsche Prototype' is somewhat misleading. These weren't really 'Porsche factory' racecars. They were privately modified RSR's. This was in a time period when 911 aerodynamics were changing from race-to-race in attempts to cope with increased power. Your foto is at Watkins Glen on Saturday. On Sunday, the Brumos car ran in the CanAm race, the only 911 to ever race in CanAm. The factory had the Martini car running with a similar tail for a few races. And the Viceroy-sponsored car also ran a similar tail in 1974.

You might be right Dave. It was run by a South American team I believe.

Curt:

Wow, these pictures are just what I need. Now I see the rear fender shape, wheel size and body extension over the lights for the strut. You can really see how this all morphed into the 935 rear bodywork.

Donahue's book says Penske sold their car immediately following the race to "some people from Mexico for $20,000- in cash" From the markings on the Viceroy car it must have been the Penske car.

Thank you for the great shots.

Yeah, that was it - Mexico, not South America. The photos are from LeMans. I never put 2 and 2 together on that before!

A few more pics:

Finally, here's the actual tail (or one similar to it) I took this photo 2 years ago at a private collection. The guy used to own the car too, but sold it and kept the tail.

Those tires are enormous in the top shot and the decklid picture is excellent. Shows the construction really well. Just about all my the questions are answered.
This just may be another project down the road. I've sworn off widebodies and massive tires, well wider that the standard RS rear flares, but this information may make me change my mind. After all, this must considered the ultimate longhood from HE**!
BTW did that Ferrari driver think he was one of the Duke Boys driving out there in the grass?

Small point, but maybe significant. The uprights on the Martini car were attached to the fenders. The Watkins Glen 6 hr. cars show the struts attached
to the decklid. This suggests to me the Martini car was the first car and the later two used simplified strut and now wing installation. While strictly an assumption, there must have been three of these prototypes.

That wing size and overhang reminds me of the same on the short tail 917.
Donohue's comments were the aerodynamics were very good with this combination. Certainly would be exotic on a street longhood.
