Ignition Switch Acting Up...
Howdy,
In the last two days several times when I go to start the engine there is no spring back to the starter switch and the starter is not firing off. If I turn the key long enough off to on the key switch starter mode comes back. I'm sure it's a matter of time until I'll be jump starting the car. Is this problem repairable, i.e. contact cleaner or oil? Thanks,

Don't know for sure what the problem may be. You may want to try what I regularly spray direct into the key slot.
REM OIL. Available at gun shops. ![]()

Here's an update just in case some poor soul has the same problem... I read one of the previous threads as well as the reply from Sig and went ahead and used "CorrosionX" which is an aircraft product. It says that it can be used on electrical contacts. I flooded the key way with CorrosionX a couple of times sticking the plastic red nozzle as far into the switch as I could. At first the flush was dark, then went to clear. So far the ignition switch as worked every time since.
However I would warn that you place some towels behind the dash and under the key switch, also remove the carpeting just in case. I had a puddle on the floor the next day, fortunately my carpets were out. So I've got my fingers crossed because I'm too old to stand on my head to have to replace the switch.

No problems so far, working just fine I'm very happy to say... If anything changes I'll let you know.

I had the same problem in Nov last yr, and I bought a used switch. However, I flooded mine with WD-40 while waiting for the replacement to arrive, and the switch has worked fine since, so I have not yet had to install the replacement switch.
