Wow Wolverine! I've been subscribed for a while because I had the feeling this was going to be a great build, but I didn't imagine that it would be THIS good! Outstanding!
Cheers, - Craig_D |
Great job. Good to see that it's so close to the finish. And boy is it light, should really fly with the speed triple kit.

Looking good Tony. I didn't think that Fordahl would be able to stuff those monster wheels/tires under the fenders........but it looks perfect.

Fire!!!!
I just scrolled back to the 1st post and it is dated 03/14/2008..............Tony's IROC project is a thing of beauty and it has been a long road, but is now getting down to it!!!
As some of you know, I've been helping out a little here and there in my spare time. This project has gone through many changes since 2008 and it is turning out nicely. Initially we installed one of my S3-EFI kits, after careful consideration we decided to simplify the system and go old school. So, I rebuilt a set of Webers for his 2.7. After some initial leakage issues .............we fired that mother up! I've attached two videos. There were quite a few "almost" starts where the engine would fire up on the initial squirt of fuel, but not stay running.................but eventually the fire gods spoke and the 1st video shows the 1st signs of life. This is the first time this engine has been fired up in this 911 for 5-6 years. Needless to say, the looks on our faces are a mix of happiness and relief. The 2nd video shows the results of a few minor tweaks to get it to run and idle. Although the fine tuning and balancing still needs to be done, it sounds strong. A pivotal moment......or two https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsMZRI503Qw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-cDOVNinz0 regards, Al |

Been awhile,
slow and steady progress, as limited by time and money, but just got my X-Faktory (be sure to checkout his new website) engine lid grille by Al Kosmal, so pulled off the duck to see what it looks like. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1456708270.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1456708290.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1456708332.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1456708390.jpg |
So happy to see this project is still alive. Gorgeous car. Let get this wrapped up!
|
I am going to pout , you never called me.
|
Oh no took off the "duck" great job on the car. Took me 8 years to restore/build my 916-6 only worked on the car when I was in a good head space and time permitted. Good also to see you had some good help.

Thank you all for the kind words....... I have had those moments where i wasnt in a good place in the head, due to one step foward and two steps back and wanting it done asap........But my biggest thanks goes out to Al Kosmal, whom without his experience, knowledge, guidance and sometimes patience in teaching has gotten me and my 911 to where it is today.......but with all its ups and downs, i can say that the light at the end of the tunnel,is actually visible.
Thanks to all. |

Hey old friend....lol... where are you these days
|
Old friend? LOL
|
Just recently recieved Paul Abbott's kit for my webers, had to do some drilling, and next comes the tuning part, Al Kosmal has been my greatest source of info and knowledge in helping me learn about carbs, and with each remove and replace, the confidence grows, so I took her out today after work ( not to far from the house ) , and the idle was better, it also had a little better throttle response, still sputtering a bit, carbs seem out of balance ( gotta get me a carb balancer now ), but here are a few pics..... more to come
