Thoughts on value- 71E coupe

Could use some opinions on this....

I'm looking at a 71E coupe ( no sunroof) with a 69 2.0l "S" motor. Car is said to be solid, has a 4 speed trans , I think sport seats, needs a tune up.

Would like to make a offer but dont know what a fair offer is for this rig...

I dont have any pics either.

Please let me know

Thank you

I have a 2,2 E Coupe and i only can tell what the prices here in Germany (Europe) are. It depends on what condition the car is. Is it running ? does it have original body-style? original colour? rust? crashes? original interieur? a.s.o......
The S-motor is not lowering the price (i would say it lifts the price a little)
So my car is worth about 25.000 - 30.000 Canadian Dollars and the condition of it is a C+ (don`t know how you guys value your car in Canada, but we have school-notes from 1-6 for the condition)

Maybe it helps a little....

Greetings
Armin

Thanks Armin

I think your car is worth more because it is #'s matching .... the car I am looking at is no longer #'s matching even though it has a "S" motor.

The car I am looking at is under just under $20K so not cheap for a non #'s matching car.

Seems like rust is going to be the big issue. If it is rust free and under $20K, could be a very good deal. The sports seats alone could be worth $3-$4K if in good condition.

A rust free '71 E coupe chassis is worth some money. As is the S engine.

So even with parting out value, you're probably looking at $15K or more. But hard to value the car or its parts with really no info on condition, or pictures.

Oh it is matching but it`s not original at all. It has some SC fenders in the back and the colour is not the original red-tone. And some other things are also not matching 1971 but i don`t care. I got a bid for about 25.000 bucks, but ...no way
Herman when are you going to drive all these cars you own ???

I agree. The car has flares, too, so it's not an original car by any means. You gotta go by overall condition and what the car consists of; like the seats, motor, etc.

When I got my '71, I sold off enough parts to pay for the initial purchase of 5K and still had a running car!
