Dave:

I too have noticed his absence- and I haven't spoken with him in a couple of weeks. I'll give him a call tomorrow.

Paul.

I was thinking about him today when I was at work. If anyone gets to talk to him tomorrow, tell him we've been looking for him.

I got a PM from him less than 24 hours ago. Nothing unusual in it.

After 5-6 thousand posts I suspect he might need to rest his fingers.

(Posting takes a lot more work if they contain facts as opposed to light fluff like this one...)

Thanks for the concern everyone.

There are just some times when I am less than perfectly functional. Gone are the days when I could run (on foot) the 3.56 miles of Daytona at 6 AM before a 24-hour event. On good days I walk 2.2 miles along the Highline Canal with my Airedale “Targa”.

The little breakfast gathering last Saturday was remarkable in the diversity of about 70 people and cars. I was really impressed with the number of 928s and disappointed with the lack of 914s & 924s. Of course the majority were 911s. My lust vote was the T6 Roadster. There was also a very nice ’67 912 that I can help.

It seems our volunteer breakfast promoter suffered another embarrassing failure of his email service where people received unintended email. Another is taking over. The plan (I think) is to have another ‘breakfast’ at the same location while the Village Inn is closed for remodeling. If so we may have a catered buffet under tents in the parking lot – weather permitting. I’m open to suggestions and help. We also may move from Colorado Blvd. & I-25 south to Belleview & I-25.

These two ‘breakfasts’ have been just “you all come, you hea” non-events. I think they should become a regular happening. I would like to have someone facilitate this. I think it should be ‘all inclusive’ with every Porsche club, car club and forum. Perhaps each local club can facilitate and possibly include with their regular events. This past weekend we had PCA, RMVR, SCCA, Nostalga, the cyber clubs and probably ten more. How about a “Porsche” breakfast that encompasses all Porsche enthusiasts and supported by all the clubs?

I see this as supporting all the Porsche club members. While I’m coming up on my 40th year as a RMR-PCA and Colorado Region SCCA member and a 1983 RMVR member, I support everyone interested in preserving the Porsche legacy. I think it up to all of us to do that at simple breakfasts.

Best,
Grady

Grady,

Good to hear you are out and about.

We all have good and bad days but at least we have the days.

Take care.

Porsche Crest Disaster!!!

My buddy, Grady Clay, was being his typical southern gentlemen and trying to protect my identity. I made this announcement in the 911 Forum as well:

"By now the guys on my car meet list received a wayward email from the marketing email system I used to use to keep in touch with my current and prospective clients. I'm a financial advisor and the idiots that I used to send emails to my clients screwed up and sent marketing emails to all my Porsche buddies. What a major screw up on their part!!! Of course, I've fired them and now I'm licking my wounds because the multitudes think I only did this whole car meet thing to get people's email addresses so I could spam them. Yikes!!

I'm laying low for a while and have turned it over to another really great guy, Erik Behrendsen, and of course the Master of the (Porsche) Universe, Grady Clay, to pick up the pieces. I'll be laying low for a few months so all the guys who got the wayward email will forget my name and not confront me at some future event about spamming them and Erik and Grady can restore this really cool idea.

Even though I'm VERY sorry this happened I'm really not to blame and I hope I'll be forgiven in a few months or years and I can return to the fold."

As the old Proverb goes, "This too will pass".

2.2 miles in Grady's walk...

2.2 liters in a 1970 911.....

coincidence, I think not...

I wouldn't take it all that seriously. The simple explanation above should suffice. I don't know that I would have even fired people for a mistake, but it's your world.

Anyway, I know you've been a staunch supporter of Grady and gave me a heads up when he was about to arrive here in Smell A. I thank you for that. Now, life goes on.

Grady, good on you to come 'round. You called me a couple of weeks ago and all seemed well. Let's hope it stays that way.

Catered under tents??? My word, how extravagant you CO folks can be!

Milt:

Thanks, Milt for your words of encouragement. They were just a vendor for me so it wasn't like people lost their jobs. It was the second time and it was a huge breach that got more than a few people mad at me including the local PCA chapter president. So it goes. I'm glad someone else is handling it now.

Grady's been doing some smart things lately to start feeling better. It seems to be working. A few weeks ago we removed the engine and gearbox from a 912 parts/project car of his and he was digging right in like the "old days". Picture Grady wiggling the engine and jack around until it came loose. I think he's going to put up some pictures of us at work pretty soon. Unfortunately they're mostly of me.

I've been hauling his sorry a** (as he's known to say) to a neuromuscular therapist (NMT) [who's been keeping me out of pain for about eight years] and he's taking "two steps forward, one step back" as a result. He had a little cold/flu bug earlier this week but he bounced right back from that too so I'm very encouraged.

I don't think he likes it when I tell the Pelicans this stuff but tough. Just wanted you guys and gals to know so we can cheer him on!
