Exclamation Help! 81 SC needs tech help...

Please help me out... I just spent a couple of hours installing new steel braided spark plug wires to my 81 SC... also a cap and rotor... had the original wires on there so I thought it was a good idea especially since I think what I saw at night was arcing... Anyhow, here are the problems I encountered:

The steel braided wires for this car seems a little short where there is some tension on the wires to the cap. I did not see the exact routing of the old wires... more concerned with firing order... will this tension be ok? actually the wires touch the intake runners that get very hot... this tension caused one of the ends to pop off the wire at the cap... freaked me out a bit, but then realized they screw back on... hopefully this did not strip inside the wire where it screws in... Also, most of the wires "clicked" in place over the plugs... 1 or 2 did not click but pushed on snugly.. Is that OK?
I Turned the car on and it purred.. but here's what's strange, I saw that in the dark I saw this sort of glowing light coming from the wires right before the cap... I touched it and the glow followed my finger, but did not shock me or nothing... kind of cool actually... what the heck is that??? Is it normal??? I thought it was arcing!!!

And lastly, I had my throttle linkage adjusted a while back when I noticed it was like 1/4 open throttle when floored... I had a mechanic adjust it and when I got it back the pedal was way way back and it was awesome!!!! I probably had full throttle half way pushing the pedal...and I don't care what anyone says, this new leverage made it really response, quick and blazing fast on acceleration... Then the pedal went back down again!!!! I just about get full throttle now burying the pedal into the floor carpet... but not like it used to be. So, I adjusted the pedal rod right to the last thread and that did not help much, I am actually worried there may not be enough threads holding the rod in place... anyhow where can I gain that leverage back? Without getting under the car if possible... will adjusting the linkage at the throttle body do it? and, if so, how do I adjust that? and do I make the link longer or shorter, I can't seem to figure out how that will work in relation to pedal position.

Thanks for your help...I know I have a lot of questions... but do your best!!! :-)

By the way, waking up early to get back to work on this!

Thanks,

Cy

all the connectors should click onto the plugs or they can blow off. the "aura" is interesting. never noticed that. the purpose of the shielding on the wires is to ground that "aura" for radio communications purposes. the lever on the front end of the pedal pushrod probably bent sideways, due to the throttle being at full while the pedal was still away from the floor. that's why there's a pedal stop.

I used to check for high voltage leakage on TVs using a pencil. The tip would have a blue arc/ flame/corona around it. Maybe you have a small version of ST. Elmo's Fire. It used to light up ships and was very strange.
