I Need Help.... Throttle May Be Sticking.. Solution?

Hey guys well hope someone can help me with this but probabally so.. Well got thepcar back from the shop..Long story.. was running fine and everyone once in awhile the little black plastic threader thing that the throttle cable go's through in the rear. It fits in the little brass braket with a cutout square.. well the thing goesin there and guessit doesnt stay so it sometimes pop's off and then stay's at say 4k revving till i get out and put it back into place.. Anyway was driving home and it feels like when i let off quikly on the gas to shift it doesnt do it but when i kinda come off the gas slow it kinda sticks.. so was wondering if you can spray like a lubricant in the cable to let it grease itself and slide smoother or would that be bad? any help would be great.. thanks

i've had throttle bodies stick after taking cars out of storage. i lubricated the moving points with a lithium grease and they stopped sticking. you can lubricate the throttle body linkages and that will help it to keep from sticking. just don't hose the entire thing down with lubricant. a little bit will go a long way. for the throttle body and accelerator cables, i forgot the stuff i used, but it was a heat resistant "anti-sieze" and it won't affect any rubber or plastic parts.

the cable you're referring to is the cruise control cable. you can squeeze the bracket tighter with pliers, and crisscross a couple of nylon wire ties around the bracket and the plastic cable end to keep it in place.
