How about a early 90's (I know its rice) Mitsubishi Galant VR4. Those are GREAT sleepers that seat 4 very well.

I choose an Audi S4 to replace my Audi V8Q for that slot. As its a bit north of your 30k limit I would look at Acura CL (3.2) S. A friend of mine has one and I am always impressed by it, especially for the $.
