I really want to disect my OLD exhaust system, see what makes it tick.
If I want to re-use the heat exchangers with NO HEAT could I just not re-attach the shroud? What is inside the shroud? Does it look loke the pre 74 exhaust where the are just 3 pipes? My "shroud" is beat up and I don't want to re-use it but want o reweld the exhaust holes if any. Opinions? Shawn |

Why not just buy a set of headers? This eliminates the shrouds, and the heating system. But, headers are available in larger diameter than the exhaust tubes hidden in the heat exchanger shrouds. An engine just a big air pump. More air in and more air out? More power... I realize this is simplifying things, but if you're willing to give up heat, why not go for a power gain?

yes, you can do that. The "heat exchanger" is just some tin surrounding the headers.
