Ignition problem

Well I just replaced my ignition switch and when I turn the key I get nothing.I tried the old switch and it also does nothing. The battery is charged. It worked fine before. Under the dash by the front trunk release there is a fuze hanging. I cant tell if it is blown or not. After I replaced the switch and reconnected the battery I heard a sound like the radio was powering up but it caught me off gaurd so I pulled the battery just to be safe. Also when I was taking the old switch out the inner most plug of the three plugs on the front of the dash going to the trunk fell off. I wasn't sure what plug it went on and it was dark under there so do these plugs interchange or will they only plug onto the place where they were intended to go? It's going to rain today and the car is outside with the drivers window halfway down. If need be I will cover it.

did you crawl under car and try to directly jump the starter?

the 3 plugs under dash are specific to location.

I don't know anything about '89 specifically or your alarm system.

there is a jump at the alarm box to bypass it. It's in the archives somewhere or start a new subject.

otherwise if that car was given to me without any info I'd start at the ignition switch with a test light and a wiring diagram.

it may be a simple as the main feed to the switch. The battery positive connector may have a seperate wire along with the large starter cable. My car has 2 small factory wires along with the starter cable. Other pelicanheads have reported that interference can happen if the wire corrodes under the wire insulation. It's a 911 trait.

also you have to hook up the 3 plugs under the dash. I use a razor blade to widen the indivudal pins so there is a good connection. One of those plugs feeds the ignition switch with power if i remember correctly.
