Q about 19"s on 82 SC

Hey, got quick question. Is it possible to fit 19" wheels on 82'SC? I probably have to run spacers maybe in the back and front? What size spacers?

Here is the setup im looking at,
Fronts-19x8.5 with 235/35s offset 47
Rears-19x10 with 275/30s offset 56

Did search but couldnt really find info.

I would like to keep it lowered also if it would be possible. Dont really care for harsh ride. Thanks for any replys.

If you don't care for a harsh ride then you will probably have to get custom valved shocks. Even with modern cars designed for low profile wheels there can be a marked contrast in ride comfort and handling between standard wheels and optional lower profiles. The Boxster was a great example of this where writers generally prefered the feel (and handling) of the stock 16" combination over the 17" option. Same for the Mini. With a car designed for 15 or 16" wheels, trying to run 19's is probably an exercise you don't want to pay for.

I just read yuor sig..looks like you have a small block chevy in there pushing nearly 500hp.

well, that changes things.

your stock diameter was 25.2"...

Now, seeing that you've got the excess hp, and presumably some freedom of gearing, (I doubt a 911SC gearbox will last long if whipped with that kind of tq), you have more options.

Goodyears in the size you listed are a bit taller, at 25.5", which would affect gearing and speedo accuracy...as well as raising the car...

But, i assume you've had to change rear springs anyway, so you can readjust to drop the car back down.

So, I can see that working....except for the limitations in space...I think you'll need RS type flares.

I would look long and hard to make sure my front wheel /tire package weighed as close to stock as possible for proper steering feel.

What about spacers? Would i need to run spacers with this setup? I currently have, i think, 930 wheels. BBS RSs 16x8s et11 in front and 16x9 et 11 in the back with no rubbing issues and its lowered pretty low. Tires 205/55/16s and 255/50/16s.

One way to make a preliminary test is to measure. The width you'll need to stuff in there is 10" or so, depending on actual tire model. Perhaps the guys with wider rims will chime in. Often 3 piece rims are the solution to fitting the widest tire possible, as you can position the tire precisely.

my sbc powered 71 coupe has almost 600 chp and almost as much torque... all aluminum dart 434 sbc roller motor. i run a 930 four speed with kep stage two clutch and pressure plate. can,t imagine using a 915. i run 10 by 17 lindsey wheels with 285s on the rear with rs flares. i also have s4 front brakes and 930 rear brakes. no spacer on the front and quarter inch on the rear.
