CIS 3.0 updated 1971 911T - Regulator Panel

I've decided to stay the course and install the '79 CIS 3.0 in my '71 T Targa. Below is the '79 regulator panel modified to fit the chassis. I fabricated an adapter harness similar to the original '71, with a front 14 pin that the chassis harness can plug into. The fuel pump harness will be up front as the '79 was.

CIS 3.0 updated 1971 T - Regulator Panel

CIS wires run separately to the front

Notice the two conjoined T1 connectors that I added. I am running a separate 2-wire harness to the front to connect to the fuel pump harness.

One comes from the T2a engine connector: a 0.5mm br/re wire that connects the air flow sensor contact (G19) to the (front) T2k connector for the fuel pump relay term 85.

The other comes from the (rear) T14 connector, pin 10: a 0.5mm re/wh wire that powers the WUR (N9), AAR (N21), and the vacuum hose thermovalve (N43). I put a female spade on the front end that will connect to the T1d connector on the fuel pump harness. It goes to the fuel pump relay term 30 (and the fuel pump black power wire).

Question: Since I still have to install the front fuel pump harness, does anyone have pictures of such an installation on a long hood car? I'd love to see them.. Thanks

Don’t forget you’ll need to run a yellow wire to T2k from T1e as well.
The FP harness normally connects on the floor by the fuse panel for the later years.
I’m sure you will be able to tuck the connectors in behind the fuse panel using the rear nub to mount the relay base by the horn relay.
When Porsche added CIS in 73.5 they added a relay at the rear to handle the cis power. (Red/white)
Tied into switched power circuit for CDI etc.

Hi Dennis,

I really appreciate your comments.

Here's my thinking:
Yes, I will run a yellow wire to the front T2k from an ignition switch (50) source, but up front nearer the batteries, ignition switch, fuel injection relay and the pump.

The '79 did have two yellows from the front joined together at the T14/1. I am using the single starter wire from the '71 chassis bridged to the rear T14/1 instead. Since I don't have a rear heater blower, I hope this will suffice.

I hope the front CIS relay will work for the re/wh engine T14 pin 10. I have not added a rear relay.

I am powering the engine CDI T2a from the ('71) front T14 pin 13, which is key-on 12v (15).

On a related topic, I have not added a rear starter solenoid relay. I will later if necessary.

Thanks again!
Kirk
PS: I really welcome additional thoughts. I've learned that the more eyes I have looking at a problem, the better.

From what you have described, I think you will be fine.
The connector for starter solenoid behind the dash could easily have a wire added , just redo the female terminal, adding a wire to run up to the connector. It is needed to make the FP relay change state and allow the pump to run during cranking.
There is not a yellow starter solenoid wire run to the front fuse panel area in the early cars.

Join the 2 yellow and yellow/blue wires at the starter together on the solenoid terminal. That will power up the TTS and Cold start injector properly.
No need for an additional relay.
