With sparkplugs out (and fuel pump relay disconnected) ... cranking the starter generates plenty of oil pressure on the gauge.

I'm wondering if there is a way to pressurize the oil system without rotating the engine. For example, in a typical water cooled engine, you can remove the distributor & insert a long drill driver to spin the oil pump. This charges the oil galleries top & bottom. It seems like with so much oil piping in a 911, you could do something similar.

The Porsche distributor drive is not made toi turn the engine. The Porsche engines where never constructet like a US V8. Especially driving that doublepump needs more power than a US V8 needs to drive his camshaft. Preoiling is done automatically as the engine will not fire up if it stands longer and the fuel has vanished. But if you like to go for sure then crank the engine like Warren recomend it. If you will go for sure then use a accusump. Preoiling after rebuild isn´t a special task also done the same way. The factory used special oil and Molibdansulfid to keep the oil in the gallerys even after long storage. That MoS is a run in protection and adds lifelong emergency run capabilitys. Grüsse |
