Help, Any ignition switch gods outthere?

My deal is i narrowed my electrical problems to the wires that bunch up inside the ignition switch, female end. So i pop'd open the casing and noticed it needed to be cleaned, well this is when you have to be careful because the wires in there move very easily and well 1 or 2 moved and thought i put them back correctly but i didnt, my headlights dont turn off when the ignition is off and worst of it is that my battery drains after 2 days. Does anyone have a picture of the inside of the ignition switch, the female end......????????????
I have a 83sc....

Damian

Ignition Switch.......

Damian,

This is the 3-piece ignition switch for 911: mechanical lock (key), ignition tumbler (electrical), and the female connector with wirings.

The ignition tumbler (middle) does the electrical switching to OFF, RUN, & START when you turn the ignition key. It is spring loaded at start position and has a safety feature to prevent accidental switching of the starter when the motor is ON or running. When an ignition switch starts to malfunction it is commonly attributed to this electrical tumbler.

THanks boyt911sc for the response, i had to take the back end off of the female connector to clean it, it was shorting out.....but when i put it back together i believe i may have one wire off b/c my car immediately after my cars battery was draining out, something was stayn on somewhere.......i was hoping someone had a pic of the interior of the female ends interior, so i can look at the colors of the wires....thks damian

Well i went back and opened mine back up and compared it to the one photo and i cant see any differences or mistakes. But my lights still do not react when the ignition is turned on or off and my battery gets drained every night.....I have found out by pulling 1 of 3 female ends of the wires under the dash the one which connects to the headlights and the battery does not go died, so can anyone tell me how the ignition reacts to the lights turning on?? and how/which wires of mine may be backwards and it the wrong hole?? THKS Damian
