Weber Help
Ok my friend and I have read and re-read this thread a few times in preperation to adjust my newly rebuilt weber 46 carbs.
71 T still backfires we can get the car to run fine at higher than 2000rpm, but can not get the car to idle at any speed...no matter how we fool with it. Any idea what could cause the car to die after I take my foot off the accelerator?? ![]() The whole race season is passing me by and I can't get the car to run correctly... ![]() Regards, Tom ps I'm a complete novice at anything mechanical. I have no idea what size the jets/venturis are or any of that kinda stuff.

Hi Tom,
ps I'm a complete novice at anything mechanical. I have no idea what size the jets/venturis are or any of that kinda stuff. That puts you in some very rough country. Rather like "I think I'll go hunting today for a lion. Now,what do they look like, what do I use and where do I go?" Truly, volumes have been written on the subject of carburetion. Expecting to get a simple answer on this forum will prove fruitless. In my opinion, your only option is to hire someone with knowledge and experience to do the job for you. Good luck............

Did you follow those instructions exactly? Thats what got mine in a good baseline, from which I used a WB analyser to further tune.
Do you have any vacuum leaks? Try spraying carb cleaner around the intake manifolds and the cabb linkages. If the idle goes up you have an air leak which sill frustrate any other attempts to diagnose and tune. Also, are you sure your ignition/distributor are in excellent shape. Strong ignition is a precursor to carb tuning.
