Reputable Alignment Shop - San Diego Area

I live in the San Diego area and am looking for a reputable yet reasonable shop that is experienced in performing alignment on my '86 Coupe.

There is a fella, he is pretty well known and highly suggested. Try the search feature.

I totally forgot. Sorry

when i went in search of a shop to do my 930, i started by asking if they had done a 930 before.
one guy told be to try shop X because he had the lateest and greatest alignment machine.
$70 for and alignment on my 930. yes the old guy had done a few porsches before but what i figure is the machine is 90% of it. if the mechanic can get the wheels to line up to what the machine wants, you cant get any better.
i watched him do it, i put my hand on the machine and he could tell by looking at the numbers, it was that sensitve.

my point, you dont need to spend $500 for an alignment which is what the porsche shop wanted.

for $70 i can still take it to my friends shop and get it balanced and have less in it.

Good luck finding a decent place that will corner balance and do the alignment for $70.00. But yeah, i hear you, $500.00 is stupid.

Just call around to some of the better known indy shops (Dieter's, Black Forest, etc.) & better known alignment places and get recommendations. If the indy shops don't do it on site, ask who they use. Then I'd go talk to whoever you narrow your chioces down to.

Years ago, I used Clarence Brown Alignment in Kearny Mesa for all my old cars. Clarence sold the shop to Roger Castle who ran a the shop well and there were no disappointments There was a guy named Al that did all the Porsches and other high end cars. I also heard guys from the P-Club were his regulars but that was 15 or so years ago. The shop is still there although Roger sold it to one of the long time employees and bought Dieter's downtown. Not sure if he still owns Dieters today and not sure of the quality of Clarence Brown anymore but do your research.

Regarding computerized equipment, I've used them all and if they are out of calibration, then you never know until after a few comebacks you figure it out. They are more accurate than manual alignments, but just something to remember.

$70 is only going to get you a toe adjustment in most if not all shops. Caster and camber adjustments are extra.
