Bad dealing with Jimmy Deering of Mobile Works East PART#2

First off i like to appoligize to those ive offended in any way, or that may have got offended by the first posting of this issue......

Many have asked why i did not, or why i didnt come on and speak too much on this issue of thee customer engine rebuild problem, and the reason for it.. Well, i wanted to make sure that if i did come here to post, all facts would be true, and an the reason for this problem...

TIME: TOM AMON has told me from the beginning that i need to learn how to say no if i dont have time, and or be aware of a situation before i book or take a in between small problem job.. Well as my boss for many years, and a good person for that type of information, i did not listen.. Even though both East and West are a similiar company, sometimes bad to one, turns into bad for both(sometimes).
I got sick and at one point in this business could not for the life of me get up out of a hospital bed for 4 weeks, and had the down time of recovery.. That was part of thee time based issue i had dealt with, and pushed MANY big jobs back, which lead into a domino affect to many.. So time management for someone who was new to taking a whole big type of responsiblity, has learned the hard way, and has payed dearly for that...

TOWED HIS CAR FROM SAN FRANSISCO TO LA for repairs...

ENGINE: On the tear down i inspected it further to find the real reason for the EXCESSIVE SMOKE and fount that the heads being ported was my first thought!.. I took a nice size flash light, and magnif glass and found a very small size pin hole down half way in the port..

RESULT : On 5/5/08 at 9:00am i drove from my shop in Apple Valley Ca, and met with customer to deliver his car in North Hollywood.... He jumped in the driver seat and dropped me off 45miles south to a friends house for my ride back.. We came to an agreement to have money refunded, and working that out on a personal vehicle that needs a tranny. Got AAmco buddy that will do the rebuild on his Mini van trans, and i will pay for parts and labor...

So, in the end, he said he was happy with running condition, i am all caught up with work....

Happy Monday and hope you all have a great day!!...

Yes EarlyPorsche. I am now located in Socal after doing San Jose and Sacramento since Nov 2004, i got way to many calls from Socal Pcar owners i decided to make this move as of 6 months ago. Been laying low to finish off the remaining work from up there, and dedicate my time this way..
I worked with Tom at T&D Performance in Campbell, which i worked with for 9 years. After leaving the shop, both Tom and I had got calls from old cust that still wanted us to work on their cars, and now became a full time thing for both me and Tom..

Porsche Crest Mobile Works and Jimmy Deering are no good!!!

I am a little upset that I had not seen this blog before I decided to have jimmy dearing from mobile works work on my car, after speaking to him a few times I felt as if he was giving me the run-around. Finally when he decided to give me a price for what little work I needed, it was significantly more than I had been quoted by a few shops locally. But seeing how I was running out off time I decided to hire him. I gave him half of the amount so he could purchase the parts he needed, That was almost 6 months ago. I still have not heard back from him and have not been able to reach him on the phone Not only did he waste my time and my money but now my little project has turned into something I don't want to deal with or can even afford.

persian408....I hope that in the 6 months that have past since you gave some guy money to buy parts and never heard back from him that you were able to go through your local small claims court and have at least been awarded a default judgement by now.

You do own a Yellow 914-6 and located in San Jose correct? Just so when i give all details, no mistakes are made.... Reason for the repairs were doto you hitting a center divider on 101 South at 90 mph! So the repairs were to swap car parts to a tub stripped to nothing?

Without the reply..

On or about October POSTER, called and stated he had slammed into a center divider on 101, and wanted a quote prior to deciding what to do.. (Keep in mind he worked at a local shop when i was still at T&D with Tom. ) Prior to that visit to inspect the car, i also had been to his South San Jose home to do a inspection on some oil leaks, i gave him a quote, never heard back till he crashed his car which was a year later..

PROJECT:
To pull EVERYTHING, engine, tranny, redue his whole suspension from brand new parts he ordered online with insurance from crash.. I gave him a $1500 quote to remove and get other car running and rolling for 3 days of work.. HE AGREED.. So next day i pulled engine and tranny... Upon pulling engine i noticed that there were some weird rundowns of batterey acid on the chain cover housing, and let him know that there is a bit more work to do.. So we both agreed to have that engine and tranny brought to Socal where i used to live and fix and seal as much as possibel, and as little within budget.. YES he did put money upfront.. The other car was at the body shop being sprayed top to bottom.. While waiting for the car to finished he was working for a deadline of Nov or mid December.. Body shop had more and more things added which put the time spread more..

ATTEMPTS;
#1 attempt to work on new chasis.. I drove p from Corona Ca, to San Jose Ca and as i got to the door he told me he had forgot to call me that the car was not done yet. I had booked 3 full days and had nothing else to do while up north.. So i turned back around..

#2 :
3 weeks go by and i was told car was done, just to come up and get started and we will work side by side while body shop finishes up.. I showed up, and no answer at door, i called and vmail, so i headed to Sacramento to see my son..FEB 12 8;52 pm i get a call and a vmail saying i was supposed to show up, and sounded like he just woke up..

#3: We spoke on Thurday prior to me coming back up the second time, and was told that car will be ready Sat for sure so i booked for Tues Weds and thurs just in case.. I got all the way up, and we both drove to the body shop together, and in front of me the owner said" I told you 2 more weeks" So i was a bit upset this time... I told customer(poster) call me when ever you are certain that it will be done, and ill schedule you in then!.. A month goes by and i get a call. He said it will be done forsure Thursday night, so instead of dealing with car owner, i told the car owner to have the body shop reach me, and will not do anything until i am certain its done.... I get a call Fri night at 5pm, and a call right away from car owener expecting me to drive up Sat and finish working on car...

At this point i did not want to continue with all the run arounds i got, so i told our poster, ill drop off engine when i am in route back up north and take it to him, and wont continue further...

I'm lost. Just like in contracting, there are some people not worth the time. I hope this all works out. I've always heard good things about JD.

Since Jimmys down time with his sickness, i have seen alot more customer concern efforts helping him be more social. He just hired an office manager to cover calls, emails and other aspects of the office area.. I acually got a call from her today to confirm my appoinment Saturday.
Keep up the hard work Jimmy, and everthing else will fall into place. BTW, i heard you on the radio the other night, that was awsome.

Look forward to seeing you soon.

Milt you beat me to it. Jimmy, if you are good and are just as good with a phone call back within a couple of days. There are plenty of work out there from good people. Hang in there. I know starting out is hard and you have to try and get work even if you have to drive many miles to see new jobs. don't let these cheap and freaking tire kickers dick you around. You should at least charge for gas and and a few bucks for looking. If they want to do the work, maybe deducted from the bill. good luck.

Not 914-6

I’m not sure who this 914-6 is but it’s not me. After reading your reply It’s clear that I’m not the only one who has had an issue with your work ethics,
Just one suggestion If I were you I’d sit down and make a list off all the people whom I did wrong so when and if I decided to respond to a posting I wouldn't be airing out my dirty laundry.

Not one of mine..

HMMM So be it i havent did ANY norcal jobs except the 4 i know who they were and big jobs ive completed. One SF, other SSF, Berkeley, and San Jose. One of which this car is NOT one of them.. Your trying to hard to show who your not!.. I dont just take money and leave, and never call. Especially how i have a girl that worked for me, and a new one working now.. So all my customers have been getting calls for updates..

Ill do it like this.. Here is the office number. 760-240-9499 Giver her your name, and ill pull your R/O.

That picture is noone fimiliar with who ive done!.. All my customers are turned into friends, and there is no way i know what your talking about!..

Lets see if that call comes through...

Just chiming in cause I've been around here awhile.

I've only ever heard good things about Jimmy Deering and Tom Amon of Mobile Works. I have no idea how (if?) they are professionally related. I have never used either one of them (so i have no axe to grind) though I began to consider it once Jimmy moved down to Southern California.

Like Milt posted, I got lost trying to read through who did what to whom? Nevertheless, I will give Jimmy the beneift of the doubt since others have used him here with consistently positive things to say whereas Persian 408 has been here for all two posts!

Not that he is lying, but he has no reputation here. No basis for knowing his motivation or his reasonable-ness (is there such a word?).

Best of luck Jimmy in getting all this stuff behind you. I'm sorry that some will probably now NOT call you just to avoid the possibility that there is something wrong with your service. That's really unfair.

I wouldn't throw Jimmy's reputation (or ANYONE'S) in the *****ter by posting here unless I had exhausted every avenue trying to resolve a dispute or misunderstanding.

I'm up next on Jimmy's list while he's up in Nor Cal right now. Scheduling has not been the most accurate due to his wide territory range but craftsmanship & fair pricing have always been #1. The repeat biz turned into friendship.
