Did you split your calipers when rebuilding?
I am about to rebuild some calipers I have. Did you guys split them when doing it? Any reason why that would be bad? Should I replace the bolts? If so where do I pick up a set?

I did not. Not sure why you would want to.
Once the seals are replaced, and the pistons cleaned up with scotchbrite, I put them back in. New rubber boots. Been that way for 3 years, no problems.

i believe the information in the shop manual makes mention to NOT splitting them as sometime they don't seal like before... just rebuilt front and rears a couple weeks back and did not split them.

I had to split mine in order to hone the cylinders. I've done that on the last two sets I've rebuilt with no problems. I did replace the O-rings.

I just did the set on my '69. I did not split as the several sources I checked advised it's really hard to find the seal that go in the center and you'll likely have leaks if you don't replace the seals. I ordered my kits from Pelican and they did not come with the seals, so that made the decision for me.
As mine made moderate rust, it could have been much easier if I had split them, but I took my time and got them apart.
