power window issues

Today on drive with my son, I decided to roll down the window. Much to my surprise, it did not roll back up once we arrived at our destination. As a matter of fact, none of the switches work, neither driver side or passenger side. I immediately thought fuse, but not the case. Now I am suspecting the relay. Any thoughts? If it is the relay can I use a relay from another location to at least roll the window up. I live in Vancouver on the Wet coast, and it can rain at any moment. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

If the driver switch/relay goes out, so will the passenger. It is wired in series (stupid Germans)

i see. I thought that might be the case, so I ordered some parts last night from our host. That said, is there any way I can get the window back up, so I keep it closed until the switch arrives. Don't want rain or critters crawling inside.

Your 82 may be different from my 88. I have two switches on the driver side and one switch on the passenger side.

From the earlier post....If the driver side/driver switch is out then the driver side/passenger switch is still good. Likewise the Passenger side/passenger switch is good. Did you try taking the Passenger side switch and swap it in the drivers side/driver switch. Hopefully both windows will work.

The power to the switches is wired in series
