Help Needed Not running right
hello guys, So over the winter I have been working on my 3.0 sc and have replaced heat exchangers for ssi, made the wur adjustable, new ignition wires and plugs, dizzy cap and rotor. I have noticed when starting in the garage that smoke comes from exhaust when running so tonight after insuring her for the summer got it out of the garage and started it up and its smoking and running really rough. I had first put the smoke down to residual oil in the exchangers as I bought them used but now it looks like there is something serious. Anybody know where I should start looking as i dont like to switch parts without having to , its getting to the stage where i may just take it to a garage and cut my losses. any help would be appreciated before this car drives me nuts.Cheers Colin

Changed to SSI you may need to reset your mixture. First run it a while to make sure it gets hot. It can take some time for the oil in the exhaust to work it's way out of the muffler

That would make sense, Im thinking the running rough may be down to the wur being faulty.

Without measuring you fuel pressures, how do you know the warm up regulator may be bad? Some of the smoking may be related to starting the car and running it for short periods of time, instead of driving it.
My suggestion is always to take it to a well-equipped shop and have them sort it out. That way you can be driving the car instead of trying to make it run, day after day. Without a set of pressure gauges and a nice gas analyzer, working on CIS is like playing baseball blind-folded. JR |
