Front condenser replaced with oil cooler?

Has this been done before? There's a fan right there, although it would only be manually controlled.

Go for it!

Connect a heat sensitive switch to the "cooler" to turn on the fan at your happiest temperature.

That's my plan as well, my fan comes on when the AC blower switch is turned on. AC is gutted except for the blower, condenser fan and interior venting. Still blows external air into cabin, so I guess if I need the ventilation so will my cooler. Keep us posted I'd like to see your set up.

AC Condenser as oil cooler

Has anyone ever just plumbed the oil lines into the condenser to use it as an auxiliary oil cooler? The condenser should be able to handle the pressure, although the flow might be a little low due to the small tube size. If you plumbed it in parallel with the fender mounted oil cooler I would think it couldn't hurt. Any thoughts?

If you want the best possible oil temperature control, do it right

Valance or bumper cap and a correctly dimensioned cooler, It's unbeatable

Yes. The oil flow would be a little low due to the small tube size. Perhaps other long-term effects as well. If run in parallel with another cooler, total oil system restriction decreases, so it probably wouldn't hurt. However, how much would it help compared with using a proper oil cooler (series or parallel) in the first place?

My thoughts would be if I already had an A/C condenser up front and center, it would allow use of a larger than normal sized front center oil cooler. This is due to the A/C condenser no longer being there, so you would have that additional room, plus the room that one would normally have for a front center oil cooler. Maybe both of them could be plumbed in series so the hoses would be easier to work with. I think that it would be pretty good to have dual front center mounted oil coolers. It may be a little bit of over-kill with two of them, because the one front center cooler on mine works great on keeping the temps where they should be.
I still have my complete A/C system on my car, but I can surely say that the front condenser fan, does not really move much air, being it is only blowing air on to and through the condenser through a little rubber fitting that is only about 3"x1-1/2". It looks or appears like the fan was just an afterthought, attempted remedy for a poorly functioning design for an A/C system.
