1973 Porsche Carrera RS yours for only $302.5k

A rare example of a 1973 Porsche Carrera RS Coupe sold Saturday, August 16th, for a world record breaking $302,500. It was fully documented, numbers matching, and one of seventy-one RS’s produced; it sold with the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, shipping documentation from Germany, its original German license plate and a impressive collection of historical documentation and records pertaining to this automobile.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but why is $302.5K a world record? I personally know of 2 that have sold for significantly more than that (both private sales). Maybe it's a record price at a public auction?

If that's $300K I wonder what the price on this one is. Link.

What does the 71 examples mean? They made 1500 RS models, of which 50 were RSR.

There are several issues with the way the car was marketed. Nice car, but dunno if it was worth the price.

Story... we are working on it!

On the rear, the RS is incorrect. It's in a popular form that aftermarket graphics have been selling for many years. I actually offer BOTH styles as the original is quite Fugly.....

Copy, paste and blow this pic up....

Is the correct rear Carrera RS a decal, or metal emblem? I've seen both...

I was going to say that's how many were painted Viper green, but I looked it up and there were 79 of those, so who knows?

The alternate they considered was actually made of plastic. I've seen pictures of the emblem itself but I've never seen one, in person, on a car.

I have the decal that came with my kit, however, I actually have a metal one that I am planning to put on my car...I am almost ready for the decals...It goes to the shop in another week or so to color match the ducktail and euro H4 headlamp rings...

"...They made 1500 RS models, of which 50 were RSR."

IMHO, only the above should display the graphics/decal, but I understand owners' enthusiasm of the vehicle.
