Question Replacing Rear "Carrera" Script Emblem

Since the "Carrera" emblem on my '86 Targa has a big crack in the "C", I want to replace it with a new emblem, which our host sells. I haven't fiddled with the existing one to see how it attaches to the car. Do I need adhesive or speednuts? Neither are specified on this particular item, as they are with some of the other emblems.

Thanks.

Chris

I replaced mine last year and it was applied with adhesive.

Chris,

Just go look. If speed nuts are required you will see them once you lift your deck. If they aren't you won't see them. IIRC my '84 used speed nuts. You could either reuse the ones already there or order new ones.

Turbos depending on the year can go either way. Regardless, if adhesive is required it will already be on the piece when you get it

Carrera Emblem

I just replaced mine with a part from Pelican. Came with adhesive already attached to the bottom of the emplem. Just peel, center and apply. Ofcourse there will be some prepping involved to remove the old glue.

Since I have a black car, I also painted mine with a can of dark silver spray paint and then coated it with some clear. Turned out pretty nicely, IMO.

Ouch!

Thanks, all, for the help. I did double-check under the lid and there are indeed no speednuts, so I will proceed with the dental floss/goo gone approach, then add the new emblem.

My Carrera has that big thick plastic logo on it. I would love to replace it with a sticker of some sort that I could wax around and over. The biggest problem with that factory logo is there is no way to wax the paint around it or under it. A vinyl sticker with a 3D look would be a great solution. I feel sure the copyright issue is the big stumbling block.
