lightest 17" late offset wheel set that will work with SC / Carrera flares

Hello,

I am looking a few recommended late offset (hopefully takeoffs) wheel sets that will work on my 72 with SC / Carerra flares. What are the two or three lightest sets in 17"? I really don't like the Cup or Turbo Twist look and usually tend towards the BBS mesh or 5 spoke narrow look. Also, if anyone knows what size spacers I would need to run and if they would work with my current lug bolts or I would have to go to longer ones...

TIA,

Scott

It will depend on how much additional work you are willing to do
and the tires you want to use and how low you car is and how you have the suspension setup.

Front
tires up to 245/40x17 maybe bigger have been fitted, but it's not easy. I use 8x17 ET25 w/ 235/45 on my Carrera but will go to 235/40 next time

For an easy no hassle fit 8x17 ET 25-31 is needed w/ 225/45 x17 tires. 235/40x17 and 235/45 can also be fitted but each is somewhat harder to fit than the previous one. To get a late o/s wheel down to the desired o/s use spacers an 8x17 ET 52 early o/s wheel would need a 22mm spacer to be in the desired o/s range. 52 - 22 = 30mm net o/s. The next issue is finding an 8x17 oem wheel, the only oem 8x17 was the Cup 1 (part# 965 362 126 00 or 965 362 126 01, 8JX17, ET52) there was also a modular 3 piece 8x18 ET 52 Speedline used on the RS 3.8 but try finding them.

the most reaily available and good looking oem are the Cup1's 7x17 ET55, the 7.5x17ET55 or 65 you do the math on spacers

Rear
as on the front up to 10x17 have been fitted, whether it's a happy fit is debatable, I have 9.5x17 ET19.5 w/ 275/40 on mine but will go to 265/40 next time.

again Cup 1s in 9x17 ET55 are available, there was also a Cup1 9.5x17(965 362 128 05). In the back there is a little more leeway 9 ET15 is a good fit but some like the wheel more ouboard so use ~ET10 or so

to use the ET55 9s use a 40-45mm spacer
