Yet Another Spark Plug Question
I've got a nearly new set of Denso iridium IW-22 spark plugs that were in my cabriolet's engine when I got it last fall. With my engine rebuild just about completed, are there any problems running these in an SC engine? I use Bosch WR-5DCs in my targa.
The only things I know about the Denso plugs is that they are expensive and Denso describes them as a heat range 7 (I don't know where our Bosch's are in this continuum). Oh, I also know the Denso's work fine for screwing around with the pin when timing the cams. Thanks! Brian

Does anyone know anything about these plugs?

The only difference you will notice between them and the copper jacket Bosch's and NGK's are the price. If you like paying more for no increase in performance have at it.

I didn't pay for them -- they were in the engine when I got the car. Kind of like the Ralph Lauren sunglasses in the passenger door pocket.
![]() I'm just wondering if the heat range is close to the Bosch WR-5DC. I agree that there likely wouldn't be a discernible performance difference. Plugs are plugs. I think the Denso's were installed by the previous owner's mechanics because it was fouling regular plugs due to the valve guides being shot. Brian

Thanks! So is the "5" in Bosch WR-5DC the heat range? If so, then it looks like a match for the Denso IW-22.
