Engine Going in Tomorrow!

I have been putting together my progress here,
1976 911S – from garage find to on the road
but I am not completely caught up yet...it'll get there.

My cars have gone out to some hands to help. My man-cave fridge is filled with beer and soda. I finished my prep work. Tomorrow at 9am EST, So, I will hopefully be announcing the marriage of this 1976 911S:

to this 1976 2.7....

Hopefully, by the end of the day tomorrow, I'll have good news for you all!

Wish I lived close to a Pelican so we could wrench on stuff together. Would love to help, but not possible.

Absolutely, Sonnet beat me to it!

I went pretty well.

First, with the help of 2 teenagers, Sonnet and I got the engine on the cart. Nothing special, we just lifted it up by hand.

Then we lowered the lift some while simultaneously pushed the tranny on top of the crossmember. You will notice, we didn't have the ramps on or need to have the car on the ramps at all. It probably would have been easier if I had solid ramps, but we didn't feel comfortable with the weight on the ramps. Oh, also, the lift was COMPLETELY stable. Others mentioned the possible problem of the lift flipping over or leaning due to the weight all the way to some side and the lift isn't screwed down. But that wasn't a problem at all.

We used a jack and some wood to raise the tranny up.

Once we got one of the bolts in, we lowered the lift more until we could get the other side before moving to the rear bolts. Unfortunately, one of my bolts was in bad shape. It started to cross thread. I tried to re-thread it but the it was too far gone. I'll be purchasing a new one of these. Anyone have one laying around they want to get rid of?

Once both front bolts were on, we kept lowering the lift until we could put the rear bolts in. Unfortunately, I had the bolts, but no nuts. A quick run to the hardware store and we were all set.

Here's the happy couple. They won't be able to consumate the relationship (try to start the engine) until tomorrow. My parents 50th anniversay party is tonite and I have the kids on my own. I still have to figure out where some thing are supposed to hook up to, but all in good time!

Special thanks to Sonnet, couldn't have done it without him.

Oh, by the way, I am hoping for a post marriage bachelor party. Hopefully, in the next few weeks, I'll have her running and we can hit a bar on one of the ny/nj runs!

The anniversary party was fun, however, I was distracted by thoughts of powering up my 911.

Of my cousins, I may have recruited 2 more pelicans....
