Another Starter Issue
After a long drive last weekend ( 3+ hours ), I shut the car off (84 911w/3.6) for a short time and when I tried to start it again, it would not start. The starter would not engage, turn the key and nothing happened. Fortunately it is fairly light and I pushed started it. After sitting a few hours at my destination it started with no problem and when I returned home after a long return trip it would not start again.
I am sure it is something simple but looking for a place to start troubleshooting. Anyone have this happen as well?

Sounds like heat soak is affecting the actuation of the solonoid which acts as a relay to get the big power circuit to your starter. The solonoid is probably going out but it is easiest to do the whole starter assembly "while you are in there".
