Congrats! Sounds like a car guy gave another a very nice car! All the best with it. You probably already know this...but, as you work on it, the best thing you can do for yourself is to make sure it is always in running condition...even if it has to limp around the neighborhood. Keep the battery charged up so you don't tax the alternator, keep the tires properly inflated and after (or during) the safety checks and upgrades...drive it as much as possible and get it up to operating temps. at least once a week or twice a month at a minimum. Oh...and make sure the oil level and condition is per spec's. Nice!!

Edit....I did mean to keep it running after you get it running!
If no major engine issues...and it runs like crap...drive it and it will run better - guaranteed!

you could rent a storage unit and do some of the work there - they may or may not allow what you want to do... and of course it costs $$/month
