Finally Running after 5 years!
My 1969 T. Purchased as a non-running car in 2002. It was a "rust bucket"! Most would have stripped it and sold the parts ...I wanted a project. (Did just tell the wife to shoot me in the head should I bring home another "project"!) Car had not been licensed since 1995. Two years on a rotisserie, five years and four months in total. I drove it for the first time last week!!
![]() Lots of new sheet metal; inner/outer rockers, floors, door latch panels, battery boxes, front suspension pan, longitudinals, etc. New fuel tank, turbo tie rod upgrade, relocated battery, H4 lights with relay kit, new calipers, rear bearings, new suspension bushings all around, all shifter bushings replaced and a Momo wheel. Rebuilt the stock 2.0 with Webers and: oil restriction upgrade, cooling tin upgrade, pressure tensioner upgrade, SSI exhaust, MSD ignition, fuel pressure regulator, relocated fuel pump and filter to steering area. Had it painted, Arctic Silver. ![]() ![]() ![]() Now I just have to get the nerve up to DRILL HOLES! in those new rocker panels, for the trim. (I can't bring myself to do it...yet). Always wanted a Porsche, but living in rural Missouri probably never would have owned one without; the Internet, eBay, Pelican Parts, Vertex, Competition Engineering, Restoration Design and others so far away. And especially this forum and those other P-car sites that provide a wealth of info. Thanks to all for their input.

That's a beautiful car and excellent job of restoring it. Perhaps you can mount the side trim with the new 2-sides tapes used on today's trim. I could vote for that if only to not have another place for rust to begin again after all that work.
Interesting color underneath and in the engine bay. More pics! |

I'm towards the end of my 69 as well. Do you have any pics documenting some of the rust repair, etc? I'd love to see your rocker pics.

Thanks guys. Here are some frightening photos of how the car looked when I bought it. Intimidating! But posted here so others that think a car is ready to be scrapped ...may reconsider.
Of course, I was able to do everything myself (save the media blasting and the final body work and paint) so that saved me a lot of $$$. ![]() ![]() ![]() Emptyo, Unfortunately, my old computer did not have a C.D. and I was trying to keep all my picture files on the Hard Drive and a Zip drive backup. The car was on the rotisserie in 2003- 2005 and the pics. I had taken of all the welding, panels, etc. had not been backed up to Zip. My hard drive FAILED and I lost everything on C drive, thus do not have any pics of the car during that period. ALWAYS BACK UP! (Duh ...lesson learned.)

Wow!! That car looks GREAT! Really nice job. I have to say that I'm amazed you even considered taking on that job. The rust looked horrendous and overwhelming.

besides having a nice car for yourself, you've done agreat service for the world of Porsche by bringing that car back from the dead
... decades from now someone else will have the car, and I hope they will know about the work you did...

You have a lot to be proud of with this car. That was some serious rust you had to deal with.
Best of luck with it -

that car looks sweeeet, good job!
I bought the Haynes 911 restoration manual sight unseen - the pictures in there of rusted-out 911's were really scary!

Hell hath no fury like a Porschefile scorned by rust!
You sir, have just given me the inspiration I needed to get off my arse and finish my 4+ year garage queen project. I love your color choice for the engine bay/undercarriage very classy looking overall. ![]()
