Must be cleaner running brake pads...

Clean wheels and within a few hours of driving they're brake-pad-dust dirty again. I'm not sure what brand is installed... best guess is Mintex. Car is not raced. Daily driver. '80 SC. Want to get rid of whatever's installed...

Recommendations for clean-running pads is appreciated.

as an option, get ceramic compound pads, e.g. from ATE or EBC.
But! Be told that when cold they feel a bit like fading.
Once warmed up, they bite nicely.

Akebono pads are the cleanest pads I have ever seen, Had them on the wife's 540i BMW and they worked well too.

FWIW I've been using Hawk HPS (High Performance Street) pads in my Porsches for over 20 years. They create very little dusting, are easy on the rotors and stop an enthusiastically driven Porsche just fine. I installed a set in my '07 GT3 last year and they work beautifully, as usual.

I’ve been curious about these for a long time. How’s the squeaking? Are they silent like the dustys or are they squealy like many partial/full race pads?

Dead quiet compared to the very squealy and dusty EBC Yellows that were on the GT3 when I got it. And after almost a year, the rotors look almost like the did when they were new.

Hi Karl. Interesting statement about the Mintex Pads. I have been using the reds for over 15 years of spirited driving, autocross and HPDE and do not feel they dust excessively. They are also very kind to my rotors.

I'm using Akebono ceramic pads on my DD. Good stopping power and very low dust.

On new rotors, I went with OEM porsche pads.


no not cheap. But.

"You say, "But this other pad fits just fine with XYZ LGBTQ pad material"


Brakes are all a steel backing plate.

Buy pads per your application.


Hard to out-think a team of a dozen Pcar factory engineers brutally testing a OEM factory pad for months and months.

Dirty Front - Could live with this. (Both front & rears were last cleaned at same time.)




Dirty Rear - Speaks for itself.


Below, EBC pads as received from CarID. Larger pads don't look right to me. Been a while since I've changed them so am not sure but they look too big. Box numbers are: smaller pads= DP3104C. This matches numbers on pad. Larger pads= DP3103C. Matches numbers on pads.

...Before going further am calling CarID to confirm one way or another. Person I was speaking with confirmed they are correct. I said if they're wrong I'll be calling back and very unhappy when I do. We hung up. She called me back immediately to get more info on car. VIN... body code... engine size... (Who does that these days!?) After much to do...

Verdict is... these "will fit." (I remain in doubt albeit less so. Also preparing to eat crow and be totally wrong.)
