Need some paint color advise...
I have a 72 911T Targa that I am painting next week. Right now it is GP White but the original color is Olive. The car is not all original-it has a E engine with webers, phone dials

Original Olive no question. It is a neat and rare color in my opinion.
Anybody else? Scott

Olive is a rare color, I love it. Go for Olive. Goofy rare 60s-70s colors are worth more in my opinion. The masses buy what everyone else tells them to buy, the people in the know will lead the pack seek out a unique car and pay for it.
I sought a rare color and found Golden Green on my 68 912. I love the color, my father said it looks awful, but then the car was just invited to Palos Verdes Concours in Sept. There are so many non original cars in the world, so missing the original engine will not always be a problem in the future as long as the car is nice. Original unique colors are actually much more noticeable than a wrong engine number if you think about it. ![]()

I am pretty sure I am going Olive...The paint stores around here can't find the mix code. I gave them the 414 but they said they need a different number...anybody know what that may be? I cannot find anything on the internet

414 is correct for the Glasurit color code......is your paint store sourcing Glasurit for you?
Check out http://www.elferhelfer.com/farben.htm for the 72 model year and you'll see olive is indeed 414. Last edited by bluesky; 07-02-2008 at 11:15 AM.. |

Another vote or Olive. It's a great color and if you plan to sell it, original is best.

Go with Olive...a couple years back I saw a beautifully restored early S in the color and it was striking, much like the photo you post.

PPG's formula code is #44881.
Concept or Omni are your choices there. -Ernie

I think white is easier to sell than the olive. So if you are looking to sell and it's not original anyway, then go for the color that more people will like.

![]() ![]() Its a long while since this posting, just wondering how the paint came out. I have been looking to buy a 72 coupe in Olive for years, like the one in the first photo above. So far no luck finding one. Perhaps someone will see this & post what they have. Len ![]() |
