911sc Option Codes

Hi, i know how to de-code the option #'s once i have them however i do not know how to find the list that went with the car when it was new. I assume somehow it may be tied in with the vin#. It is an '83 911sc if that matters, perhaps i need to get a letter of authanticity? I just do not know how to go about getting the original option code listing that went with the car or even if i can for that matter. Thanks

If it is a US spec car, you are probably out of luck. Porsche began putting labels in the cars after a certain date (seems like it was during May of 1983, but my memory could be off) unless you get a COA. These labels were placed on the underside of the hood and usually in the owners manual, if the dealer did all of the work that went with prepping a car for delivery. Prior to that, in a few markets (Switzerland, for example) a similar label was sometimes generated.

The easiest thing to do would be to have someone that knows these cars just look at the car and tell you what options you have. There weren't all that many to begin with.

I'm currently at work but i know there is nothing on the underside of the hood, and if memory serves me correctly it was in fact built 05/83, it was approx #800 built, i was really hoping there was some way of obtaining the orig. options, seeing at this point the original owner as well as the owners manual have both moved on. I did track down owners #2 and #4 of the 4 total including myself but nobody had that info. thanks

If you are willing to post some photos of the car and do a little investigating, I'll help you figure out the options the car has. It's not hard.
