I'll there Fri thru Sunday, hanging in turn five. Look for the "Turn 5 Fence Jockey" shirts...almost all Porsche guys and Pelican customers. As a matter of fact, we'll be supplying shirts to the 4 Mile Merchant store starting this race and thereafter. If you hang at the track, you are most likely a "fence jockey" yourself!

BTW, Ron Pace (Pres of Kohler Plumbing) renamed the race weekend the KIC (Kohler International Challenge) a few years back.

I'll be there. They have made things a bit more interesting downtown this year. Friday night is Road & Track Concours d’Elegance for Race Cars (streets of downtown Elkhart Lake) where they drive the vintage race cars drive on the old public road course and park downtown.

Saturday night is "Road & Track Concours d’Elegance for Sport Cars (streets of downtown Elkhart Lake)" where the owners are encouraged to park their exotics down on Lake Street.

Featured race car marque this year is the Can-Am cars. Hope the 917/30 is there....it would be great to see it touring the streets of Elkhart Lake....

I had the scheduling bug at first as well. Weddings on the BRIC/KIC is a sin in gods eyes... Good thing I live and work about 1 mile from the race track. The other half...my fieance, said I had to go to rehearsal dinner friday night. My comeback was,"Can't you find a new friend". I eventually talked real nice and rubbed her feet and now I am in. I am still in for the sat. wedding but there will be me putting on my dress cloths in trailer in the paddock at 10min till 2 when the wedding starts! Thats what I call commitment! And sunday is a full blown race affair. I could care less what they get for presents. Thats why my wedding is in the off-season!

I will be motoring up to RA on Friday only and will definitely spend some time at turn 5. Will anyone be hanging around the Porsche Park area along the front straight? The track view is not great but I plan to stop there too. Hope to see some Pelicans.

Vintage914Racer,
I made the trek up the hill from the paddock level and found your trailer, but nobody home. I did enjoy watching you put the 914 through the paces. You were really doing some serious driving! More than I can say about some of the other vintage drivers out there. They were definitely in the minority, but did you find some of the others just going through the motions?

Spotted your '54' downtown Friday night, but not having met you before, separating you from the gawkers was damn near impossible.

Bummer I wasn't around to meet you when you stopped by. I had a good time in the orange car and after racing it for nearly nine years now I know how to push its limits, unlike the silver car which I've only driven twice. There is definitely a wide spectrum of driving styles and experience levels out there particularly at this event. I tend to push the 914 pretty hard, but can relate to those who don't want to get into trouble. On Sunday morning I was in the first race of the day in the silver car and despite the track being soaked from the carousel through Canada corner several people were driving like idiots and my goal was just to make it through the race safely. After racing two cars throughout the weekend I was exhausted...

Yes, Sunday was a bit treacherous in the parking areas, too. All those collector cars darting around the mud puddles to avoid a little splatter.
I could not believe some of the lap times being put down by the F1 Vintage cars. Finch in the Renault(?) put down a 1:54?!! Unbelievable.
