Reintroduce myself.

Hello, I used to be an active member of this site, around 7 years ago..but retired my Porsche SC and I slowly dissapeared. But since then I have since bought and sold a pantera, 2 Dodge challengers, GTO, Malibu's and a Mach1..but always refused to sell my Porsche..so after spending 15 months in Iraq and settling down, I have my Porsche out of retirement...since its been a while in driving my SC..I need some help in some general areas. so my first question is simple, I am purchasing some new wheels..is there a thread on how to lower the rear and front end..I do remember some way but cant remember the specifics or thread...again thank you for all your help..

Welcome back. Since you have been here Wayne has written a book "101 Things To Do To Your 911" that has all kinds of projects including how to lower your SC.

Let me be the first to welcome you back to Pelican and the States.

First off:Thank you for your service.

Look on the top right of the page and you will see "search this forum". Simply click on that and enter the words you wish to search for. I would start with " rear end lowering" and go from there.

I'm sure you've noticed that the site has changed quite a bit since you were here last.

As above, get Wayne's '101' book, but also the Robert Bentley 'Porsche 911 SC' service manual.

There is a bolt that you tighten/ untighten on the insides of the front wheels. I did this myself. I cannot think of the size, but it is a pretty obvious bolt. Put the SC on flat ground, measure to get a reference point to the fender lip, twist bolt one full turn, then drive back and forth a few yards. then measure to the fender lip. Depending upon your weight you need the driver side to measure about a half inch or 3/8 inch higher than the other side, so when you sit in it it levels out. I'm just under 170 so .25 inches was fine. Plus just put in new bilstein HD strut inserts. if your like 190 or heavier, probably go closer to .5 inches ??Also, you MUST re-align the vehicle when your happy with the height.

I've NO idea on the back, I just hear it is a freaking nightmare to do the back.

Welcome home Officer Ortiz and thank you for your service to our Country!

I have been a DIY'er on everything with my Carrera 3.2 with the exception of lowering and aligning it. I believe I made the right decision to just pay to have it done right. It may be worth the $$$ for you.

Good luck and thank you!

Mike
