I think my internal T-stat may be backwards
Does anyone have detailed pics of how it goes in? I'm seeing higher oil temps since putting the engine back in. Was running about 210F and now is around 240F. The front oil lines are hot as hell so I know it's not the external one. I was questioning myself when I replaced the o-ring on the internal one and was re-installing it.

Yep. Your ignition timing change? What about AFRs?

Whew! Thanks, I didn't know that. My AFR's are are about 11.7 under full boost. Timing checked good but I'll check it again because I've been known to accidentally have the dial turned slightly on my timing light.

I can't tell you how many times I have done that. I wish the dial advance wasn't so easy to turn!

The dial should have detentes that click for each degree of advance. BTW, my timing was off. I set it correctly and my exhaust gas temps went way down too.

Well, I thought it was fixed. Went to Porsches2Oxford today and even though the temps were mild and I wasn't driving hard the oil temps were still approaching 230F. Any other ideas? I did install a new oil temp sensor while the engine was out so maybe I was reading low before and now I'm reading correctly. The question then is why am I running so warm? Any ideas?
