WTF... New Alternator and more problems???

Hey guys,

ok... so I woke up this morning, got in the car and started my way into the porsche shop to have a new alternator installed. I've had a bunch of weird problems and many suggested to just have the alternator replaced. The car ran great, nice and strong this morning.

So I dropped off the car and had a brand new alternator installed. Spent a small fortune but got it done.

I picked up the car and boy it runs like crap now! Obviously no one at the shop took it out for a test drive after installing the alternator. The shop was closed when I picked it up so I didn't have a chance to speak with them yet.

When I first started it, the car staled. Tried a few times and same problem. It would rev up and then stall. I had to hold the gas down and let it warm up for like 10 minutes to be able to finally take off.

Once I did take off though, the car started jerking or sputtering around the 3800 to 4500 RPM in every gear while accelerating. The Tach is all over the place too and not steady.

Anyone have any clues why I would now suddenly be having this jerking or sputtering issue after getting a new alternator installed? I've never had a problem like this... the car has always started just fine and has always ran strong and accelerated smoothly. I'm frustrated here... I've had nothing but problems all summer.

Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!

oh yeah, its a 911 SC 1981

Wink

Check your coil wire and make sure it is seated into the coil and distributor all the way. It probobly was disturbed when they removed the coil and let it hang by the coil wire
