Disabling Turn Signal Emergency Feature

How do I disable the turn signal emergency light feature? --- the one when you have the car parked and if you have your left or right turn signal engaged the parking lights / rear lights / plate light is illuminated.

I've been doing some electrical stuff in the car and hit the signal by accident whilst rummaging around and thought that I really buggered things up for a minute or two when the lights were on. I really don't like this feature.

I remember reading about it here but can't seem to find the appropriate thread.

Cheers,
Kato

Okay, now this is why I read Pelican every day - to educate myself!

I thought my 81 had a problem... I've cleaned the ground, replaced bulbs, etc., and figured the problem was something between the turn signal switch and the ignition switch...

It's factory and it's OK... THANK YOU!

Sorry to hear that you were chasing something down that is of 'normal' function.

Heck - as I said above I am aware of this feature and while I was messing around with the electrical system yesterday and hit the turn signal by accident when I saw the lights were on the heart started pumping and f-bombs started dropping ... until I remembered this feature....
