teenerted1 08-20-2008 12:05 PM

What should I pay for this car? - Please talk me out of it

austin552 08-20-2008 12:06 PM

What color?
Good wrench in hell?
Smokes on start up

4flyboy 08-20-2008 12:30 PM

Take it easy.........

C'mon now fellas we were all new and excited once. Remember the trepidation you had when you pushed "Submit" on your first post. You didn't even know there was a search feature until someone made you feel stupid for not using it.
Let's remember that we have a tremendous asset here and alienating "newbies" will only tear down what has been built on the shoulders of allot of patient old timers such as Warren. I doubt seriously that he would have participated in this thread.
My humble opinion...............plus I've asked many of these same questions.

Is a Wiki a "common questions" type of forum?

widgeon13 08-20-2008 01:19 PM

Boredom:eek:

tharbert 08-20-2008 01:36 PM

Newbie? I resemble that remark! Hey, I did a lot of reading here and found the search function and was still able to come up with a lame question right out of the starting blocks. You guys' version of flaming is straight out of a "Leave it to Beaver" episode that, once the newbie is duly berated in some very tame fashion, the question gets answered generally in three part harmony with at least one or two dissenting opinions.

Meanwhile, I'll be diligently thinking of my very next stupid question and I'll be sure to let you guys hear all about it.

From this newbie...no offense taken.

FenderBender 08-20-2008 03:47 PM

"We should have a pelican car badge" :o

I think that was my first stupid newbie thread. I was pumped and it did go some where? I know prototypes were made?

If you go back and read my original post, you will see that a main purpose here is to prioritize issues for the Pelican wiki. I do not recall smearing the IQ of people new to the bbs as a reason.

FenderBender 08-20-2008 05:16 PM

Not sure if these have been listed yet?

Carpet fitment Targa vs coupe?

Muffler Mods.

Why is there oil in my tunnel?

Where is the gas smell coming from?

rcaradimos 08-20-2008 05:36 PM

What time does the Loren and Wong Show come on.
Just kidding... what flavor chips do you like?

911nut 08-20-2008 07:00 PM

My personal favorite:
"How do I make my (SC or Carrera) faster?"

Por_sha911 08-21-2008 06:36 PM

Tech (has a tie for first place): "What oil/tires/trans fluid for my car?"
PPOT: "How come _x-person__ gets away with it but I/they get banned for the same thing?"

Joe Bob 08-21-2008 06:48 PM

Why do Targas suck?

Pkaaso 08-21-2008 07:23 PM

How come my spare tire is flat?

If you have 23 odds and ends on a table, and 22 of them fall off.
What do you have left?
An odd or an end?

scottb 08-21-2008 09:24 PM

My 84 (or newer) just died. Where should I start looking?

or

My 84 (or newer) ran fine yesterday, but today it cranks but won't start. What should I do?

Steveinatlanta 08-22-2008 09:44 AM

"Where do you guys typically buy your parts from?"

Shadetree930 08-22-2008 09:56 AM

Add the .... How do I unstick my engine cover to the Wiki list?

Shadetree930 08-22-2008 10:03 AM

Other Wiki entries:
  • How to properly check your oil
  • Fuel pump relay issues with 930s and how to address them
  • Headlight relay issues on all 911s and how to address them
  • How to fill your gas tank without the pump constantly shutting off

Shadetree930 08-22-2008 10:05 AM

Wasn't there a 100 things you need to know about your 911 thread out there somewhere? Lots of good suggestions in that thread.

Shadetree930 08-22-2008 10:06 AM

Don't mind me, I'm just post whoring here :D

Oooops I did it again! :D:D

Dantilla 08-22-2008 02:39 PM

"What are the most common questions?"

RWebb 08-22-2008 03:49 PM

noooop - it has never been asked before

I dare ya to run a search and find a previous question asked as what are the most commonly repeated questions....

dshepp806 08-23-2008 02:31 AM

It's OK with me if they (newbies) ask whatever they like,....we'll (well,...most of us) continue to direct them with good info (reminders to search),....they ARE welcome here. They don't need "attitudes" or smart arse answers, just direction. (unless, of course, they are deserving of sharp edges of verbage)....

...Patience is NOT a virtue.

Maybe a WIKI of the most commony asked (apparently unresearched) questions would suffice...(if not already done).

....deep breathe.....
