odometer reading low

I noticed today that my odometer is reading low. I can drive roughly 10 miles before my odometer reads a mile. My speedo is fine, what could be the culprit and what should I check first? oh yeah, My car is an 84 3.2.

Speedo works OK? Possibly busted plastic gears inside, but on the other hand... great for resale!

I just noticed this as well on my 85 Targa.

My speedometer needle "sticks" when pulling away from stopped. As I get to 20 or 30 mph, the needle jumps up to the true speed, at least the local radar speed signs tell me it's relatively accurate.

After this started happening, I noticed a tap on the glass would free the needle sooner. It was during one of these taps that... I... hit... the tripmeter reset. So I am guessing I have two issues and need to send it away.

I've seen an outfit in LA mentioned a lot, Hollywood something? They still the place to go to fix and adjust?

And will I damage anything if I drive it without a speedo in it?

Thanks in advance

North Hollywood Speedometer. Just got my speedometer back from them. The odometer quit working and I had them adjust and calibrate the speedometer as well. Works perfect now and they turned it around very quickly.
