What is this Porsche???

A friend in Califonia sent me these pictures and I am not sure what model it is. The body is all carbon fiber, no carpet, straight pipe exhaust, slicks... Does anyone know what this is?

That is the street version of the last Porsche 911 that won Le Mans. They are very rare.

I agree on GT-1, but that is the 1st one I've seen that did not have the 996-based headlights. Very nice!

(how much will fbird ask for this one?)

You're assuming that it is a factory car rather then a reproduction.

I know the feller that owns that automobile. He's in the same nursing home as me; lives in a room down the hall.

That looks like a replica. The real deal has cleaner lines and functional ducts

He asked what it was.... it's either a GT-1 or a reproduction of one.. it doesn't really matter. It's hot, and I applaud whomever has the "do-dads" to drive that puppy around!!

Hell, most people have never seen one..

Chuck Beck is doing "re-pros" of the 904.. when he pulls up in that thing nobody cares that it's not a real one. Some have no clue what it is.. others that know still drool!

How about that Indy Motor sitting next to the wall & the GT1?

Do a search for GT1 replica, it's been posted here. Someone in So CA built it, from the ground up. I think Legend Automotive in Malibu had it up for sale, not long ago. It has been used to advertise the Kinesis wheels. It's running a Corvette motor, I believe. 1968, are you sure the guy is in a nursing home? I think the guy that bought it is younger & lives in CA, but not sure.

Just kidding about the nursing home, but wouldn't that be a great retirement?

He just bought the car that goes around that motor, the Maclaren F1

He also just sold the yellow gt1 and got the other Mobile 1 gt1 existing outside the factory.

Outside of owning an oil well, Fiberoptic cable production seems to be the next best thing.

Agreed. Fairly accurate, and pretty cool, but not factory.

It's a replica. Tube frame chassis with a fiberglass body. No real interior to the car.
There was a white one at last year's Ventura show, perhaps it's the same car as in the picture above. The white GT1 replica at Ventura had a Chevy engine in it.

Cheers,

The real GT1 didn't have the big air exhaust holes in in the front lid for a front radiator.

and the rear air intakes were functional.

Too funny, yup it's a fake alright!

What did your really expect? As if there are really enough of them to go around and that those who can afford the required investment would really be out just cruising it around for dinner! HA!
