Finally...

Months behind schedule, too many project on the go and years of Honey Do list back log...

Thanks to Trog (Pelican) and Richard (Clewett Engineering) for their support.

I still plan to post all the step by step from the engine drop to the start up (on the second cranking).

Fantastic !!

Wow jj i am about 1 month behind you. Waiting for r clewett to upgrade my tech unit to twin plug... Then its onti that part i am hoping it starts up in 2 cranks also... Llook forward to your play by play thread cheers frank

JJ 911SC 06-25-2013 01:56 AM

Frank

If you have not done it yet (I waited until yesterday :rolleyes::rolleyes:), download the software and get the DB 9 to USB cable if require, had to go in 5 stores before I found one at twice the price of the one on line.

After doing all the connectors, I did a continuity check from every pins to the main plug.

You can check all your power and its sequence while waiting to get your unit back.

C.E. 17 steps Tuning Procedure for the 1st start up is right on.

Only decided last week where where to mount the unit. It will disappeared under a canvas cover.

Now that its working, time to clean up this mess...

Are you still using/happy with the set-up posted at # 229?

Did you up-grade your software to version 4.9.26?

Thanks

JJ

Finally after finding all kind of excuses not to... I did four test run, with different TOG and IOT setting, on Monday. Haven't driven the car since last November, it did feel great and a bit peppier.

The recording shows that the AFR was good on three of the runs.

The air intake noise from the engine is totally different to the point that I was starting to question if there was something wrong with the engine.

So the car is drivable as is and will be tune overtime...

I spend some time on the Electromotive Site and the Tec/GT forum has 269 posts. Most of the question are answer by Jon (from EMI). I plan to read all of them in order to gain some insight. There doesn't seem to have the kind of interaction that we have here on PP. One of the forum is a place for people to post there bin... Well I guess its something that people don't want to share as there is only 11 posts and half of them have no bin. Its not like someone would use them as is but it would be interesting to look at them to see the interaction between the tables. I'll send mine to Jon for advise.

I plan to go to a show on Sunday a couple of hours away, it should give the confidence that I previously had as she had never let me down before.

Trog - is that backdated filter housing that you used on top of your ITBs the same one for a 67-73 MFI engine? It looks a lot like it. Where did you get it?

That is exactly the look I would like for my engine ... Amazing!

Here you go...

The only other change was the installation of a backdated air filter. The air filter includes an oil tank bung which allowed me to '86' the oil collection tank. Plus it included a port for the fuel tank vapour recirculation.

That's about it. The car starts fine, runs great, and has never left me down.

Maxhouse97 03-22-2014 12:36 PM

Absolutely amazing - that has now taken the place of a 3.6l swap on my wish list. Didn't know you could combine the look of MFI with EFI ITBs. Perfect!

New Look (again)... And final one.

Borrowing the idea, of being able to "monitor any signal" from Trog, here is the result of my procrastinating almost finished winter project...

Started on the second try, after plugging the 12 volts to the DFUs :D:roll eyes:
