window motor differences coupe vs cab

Does anyone know what the actual differences are between the electric window motor for the coupe vs the cab. The cab motor is double the price and from pictures appears to be the same. I am sure there is some difference but what.

Can I take the actual motor off a coupe and attach it to the gear box from the cab? Or is it just something like the wire connector being different?

Don't know, but I've got a dead window motor from a coupe in a box somewhere if you want pictures or measurements...

If anybody had a dead cross arm-style power window regulator with motor still attached, I'd like to aquire it. I am gathering a sample of window regulators to weigh, to answer once and for all what the differences in weight are between manual and power windows. I have a sample of all of the other styles....

Back to the original question, the only difference I knew about for the cabs was they used a regulator with a mechanical stop. I assumed the motor was the same. A quick check of PET indicates that the various body styles used the same motor, but different motors were used for different years. No idea what the differences are, apart from the change in regulators from the parallel arm style to the cross arm style.

Well I have a person with a working motor from a coupe that is willing to send it to me for evaluation. I will check out what I can tell for differences and let everyone know. The PET actually shows a single part number but then lists separate motor numbers for the all the different versions, (coupe, targa, cab, turbo) I hope it is just a connector change for perhaps one had more speed than the other.

Well I got the test motor today and I think it was actually for the left hand door because the configuration was opposite of what mine was. The only difference I could see is the depth of the mounting bolt standoffs. The one for the coupe had longer standoffs on the gear housing than what the one for the cab has. This would effect the depth of contact for the main gear. I think one could probably machine off the coupe gear box to fit a cab pretty easily. In my case however the gear box was fine from the old motor. The motors appear to be exactly the same so I just took the motor off the coupe gearbox and installed it on my cab gearbox. It all appears to work just fine. The is an endplay adjustment for the motor shaft on the gear box. I just adjusted it until it just touched the motor shaft. Anytighter and it bogged the motor down. So I think all is well in window town. I don't think there is 1/8" difference in the length of the standoffs. If the gear box was the right hand side I probably would have tried to fit it anyhow. I don't think it would interfer with anything. Not much difference for double the price.
