I am not sure that is the actual FACTORY manuals, they look similar to the Bentley manual (at least for the Carrera). Not a bad thing of course, as the Bentley is excellent IMO. Together with 101 Projects from Wayne you are all set for a DIY weekend.

Oops, I'd better stop downloading and delete the ones I already have on my computer then....

I got no connection to the site where the download is, but got a heads up that our host might not like the link to this web page.
So to be on the safe side I deleted the link..

Copyright is an issue here.
I wonder how long that site is going to have those manuals online...
Too bad, there's a lot of information on there.

Repeat the prior post in OT. Apparently, many there don't believe in copyrights and intellectual property.

I thought everyone had the 1100 page manual in PDF format by now? Watch how you talk about the PPOT folks. They bite, and they haven't had their shots.

This pops up every couple of months. Yes, you can find the Bentley Manual. Yes, it is copy written material & the publisher will undoubtedly hunt you down like a dog if you use it. More importantly, Wayne has said a big no to the posting of this material & any links to download it many times. He runs this place & he deserves your respect for his simple rules.

And he sells the real thing that you can smear with grease & blood in your very own garage for only $98.90. See Bentley - partway down the page. You might as well get it now sooner than later. The internet copy is a crooked - just OK scan - which is confusing to navigate. $98.90 = 2 fillups or less?

I completely agree that the Bentley should be purchased but man, Porsche needs to make the workshop manuals available online like they have done with their PET. At least the ones that are 20 years old . . .

Agreed for books like the Bentley, Haynes and 101 Projects - you need these in properly bound format, especially with clear pictures. Not sure about the Bentley (useless to me) but Wayne's book has colour pics with help a TON. (especially the first time you try to find TDC for #1 with your distributor )

The factory manuals are something like $1000 and probably should be public domain. I found that site years ago, pm'd Wayne for permission to post the link and he flat out refused, which I expected and was fine with. Truth be told, the factory manuals are only so useful. When I rebuilt my tranny, I was able to find the relevant pages here, complete with pics, and never referred to my copy of the factory manuals once.

The FWM's are not very useful at all. You can find better, more detailed procedures for everything in the Bentley manual and in Wayne's 101 book. The exceptions might be the parts explosion diagrams and technical specs, but those are not worth the extra expense or the effort.

Exactly, and you can almost always find the exploded diagrams here. And one thing I forgot is that the workshop manuals *do* contain errors in some of the torque specs, which were corrected in later versions. When doing my tranny, I found a list of torque specs here and a few had been corrected.

I guess being a super nerd I want all of the information I can get before diving in to some complex repair so I opted for bently, waynes, and the wsm.

All the more reason to offer them cheap. Or free. C'mon Porsche. Step up.

if you WANT Bentley - or Wayne - to put together manuals for you to use in the future, it would be wise to NOT rip them off

they need to have some income from sales to make the thing viable - much less making a profit so they can eat, pay their mortgages, hire people to help etc.
