change switch knobs to newer style heads

Has anyone changed the switch knobs or covers to the newer style?

The covers are cracking on my 1973 car, and I like the new-fangled style better anyway.

Here is a pic of the newer style from someone"s Carrera.

I'm wondering if they are compatible so I can avoid replacing the entire switch.
