top of door frame hitting qarter window seal

I'm putting my car back together. Last night I put the door window frames in. Now when I close the door the top corner of the window frame hits the top corner of the quarter panel window seal. The seals are new and pretty stiff. The door gaps are great and I really dont want to move the doors forward. Has anyone else ran into this?

Had the same thing happen on my '81 due to the roll cage install. Door fit changed enough that I had to remove a few shims from the door striker plate too. Probably not the answer you're looking for, but I used a utility knife to shave down the quarter panel window seal. It looks -ok-...good enough for a beat up race car.

Did you have the doors off prior to installing the new seals? Tony.

Had the same issue when replacing my quarter window seals on my 84 - frames were the same for window and door. Basically you just "work it" to get it right - a little here and a little there.

Not real familiar with the window frames but always thought there was some room for adjustment in them?

Overall these cars are all different when it comes to fitments and gaps etc - part of the allure or PIA - you choose.

yes the doors have been off the car. The body was completely disassembled. I really dont want to move the doors. The gaps are perfect. Maybe I can work around it tonight.
Thanks for all of the replies.

I just rehung my doors and found that the adjustment in the door frame is not for the door window at all, it is for the way that the top of the frame meets the weatherstrip and the quarter. So adjusting the frame out should give you relief.
